Florida Statute 796.07 - Prostitution 


According to statistics compiled by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, there were 228 arrests for prostitution in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast in 2014.

What is prostitution?

Prostitution is defined by Florida Statute 796.07, among other things, as simply offering or soliciting another person for sex.

What am I facing?

A first conviction for a prostitution related offense is a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to sixty (60) days in jail.

A second conviction for a prostitution related offense is considered a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

A third or subsequent conviction for a prostitution related offense is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in state prison.

Fine

Pursuant to Florida Statute 796.07(6), a person convicted of solicitation of prostitution will be assessed a $5,000.00 fine or civil penalty.

Health Screening

A person convicted of a prostitution related offense is required to undergo a screening for sexually transmitted diseases.
